| The objective of the programme is to enable a person to acquire the knowledge, skills, and perspective necessary to contribute effectively to the safety function in a large/medium- scale industrial establishment. |

About the Course : |
| |
The programme represents a full time one-year course of study commencing ordinarily in the month of July. The programme has been drawn up by, and is conducted by the Institute with approval from the Director of Technical Education, Gujarat State. |

Any person who has : |
| |
 |
a Ph.D degree in Engineering/Technology; or |
 |
a degree or post-graduate degree in Engineering/Technology: or |
 |
a post-graudate degree in Chemistry, Physics, Electronics, or Environment, or |
 |
a diploma Engineering/Technology, followed by relevant industrial experience of two years or more; or |
 |
a degree in Chemistry, Physics, Electronics, or Environment, followed by relevant industrial experience of two years or more : |

will be eligible to apply for admission. Admission to the programme will be offered to candidates on the basis of their performance at an interview conducted by the Institute and of evaluation of their educational qualifications and work experience. |

The programme will include : |

eight taught courses; |
 |
project work; and |
 |
participation in industrial visits, seminars, etc.: |
| |
spread over three terms (ist term 14 weeks; Project term 6 weeks; 2nd term 14 weeks). |

Of the 8 taught courses, 7 are compulsory. A student will have to choose the eighth course from amongst four alternative courses offered. |

A student is expected to attend classes regularly. A student whose attendance at periods of class instruction or of other class work (including practicals) in relation to a course is irregular or falls below 75 per cent may be declared ineligible to appear in the whole of the final examination at the end of the programme. The examination will be conducted by the Technical Examinations Board ordinarily in the month of May. |

A student who : |

has passed the final examination at the end of the programme (including the oral examination); and |
 |
has completed project work and practical tests to the prescribed standard; |
 |
will be eligible to receive the diploma. The diploma will be awarded by the Technical Examinations Board; |

The medium of instruction for the programme will be English. |
 |
Classes will be held at the institute at such times during 08.00 to 17.00 hours on weekdays (excluding public holidays) as the Course Co-ordinator may determine; |

The tuition fee payable for the programme will be Rs. 20,000/- (Rupees Twenty Thousand only), Fees, if any, payable for use of the Institute's facilities will be communicated when a candidate is admitted to the programme. The amount of the tution fee will be payable in full on acceptance by a candidate of the offer of admission to the programme.The tuition fee will not be refundable. |
